Our Story

The Tsinghua University African Students Association (THUASA) is a vibrant student-led organization that represents and connects African students at Tsinghua University. Founded in 2017, THUASA is an apolitical and socio-cultural association with a primary focus on education.

THUASA is a community of African intellectuals and professionals at Tsinghua University who aim to contribute to the socio-economic transformation of Africa and the world. The association seeks to promote African culture, support academic and professional growth, and foster intercultural exchange within the Tsinghua community and beyond.

THUASA was established to promote understanding between Africa and China, as well as among people from different backgrounds, through cultural exchange, sports, and discussions. Through cultural events, leadership workshops, networking sessions, and community initiatives, THUASA provides a platform for African students to thrive and contribute to global conversations.

Annual commemoration of the Organization of African Unity (OAU) establishment in 1963, featuring cultural performances, cuisine, and unity discussions.

Acting as the chief spokesperson, appointing sub-executives in consultation with relevant team members, spearheading all initiatives and projects, and working closely with the executive team to ensure the association's goals are achieved through collaboration and strategic direction.

Overseeing the administrative backbone of the association, taking minutes during meetings, and maintaining accurate records of daily activities. Managing all correspondence on behalf of the association, acting on directives from the executive committee or President, handling public relations tasks, keeping members and the wider student body informed, safeguarding official documents, and carrying out additional duties as assigned by the executive body through unanimous decision.
